Jeremy Abbott: Murder Or Suicide?

When he went to see his mother on June 16, 2017, Jeremy was last seen alive. Later that evening, when Jeremy arrived home, he was supposed to text or contact his mother, Kim. He vanished from her life forever. Since Kim and Jeremy were close, she recognized the problem right away. She started hunting for him and posted a request for help on Facebook on June 19, 2017.

Jeremy Received Msg

A man named Joshua Levi Hyde, one of Jeremy’s buddies, sent her a private message. He informed her that Jeremy would never return home, so she should go ahead and report him missing. Kim did question him why he would say that, but he never gave her an answer. She reported a missing individual. Over the course of the more than 30 days that Jeremy was gone, numerous members of his group of friends and even members of his family made claims that they had seen him.

They would inform his mother that Jeremy was avoiding attention and was hidden. A lot of these persons later confessed to lying to the police about seeing Jeremy. They all supplied the same justification for the deception. They said that a man named Jesse Abbott had threatened to harm them if they didn’t make the false assertions. Jeremy’s cousin and close buddy was Jesse. Jesse was discovered by Jeremy’s family and police authorities to have forced individuals to claim seeing Jeremy alive while also pretending to be Jeremy while fleeing from them.

The two males might have been confused for one another at a distance. Kim approached Juan Ortega, another man who had been a friend of Jeremy’s, while he was still missing. She understood that Juan had Jeremy’s phone in his possession and had been attempting to unlock it by cracking the passcode. She coerced Juan into handing over Jeremy’s phone to her and another family member. Juan wept and wailed, repeatedly saying that they were going to kill him, according to Kim. Juan quickly left the state and went across the country within a few days.

Packing

A neighbour of his who was friendly with him also provided me with confirmation of this. She informed me that he packed up in the dead of night and fled unannounced. Juan has never visited the state again. A few years later, he got in touch with Jeremy’s mother to let her know that Jeremy had spoken to him just before he recently overdosed and nearly passed away.

Little did Kim realise that another woman was engaged in her own struggle as she was looking for Jeremy. Jeremy Abbott’s friend Jessica Hamby, 24, was 24 years old. Jessica was described as terrified, suspicious, and upset during the period Jeremy was missing by friends and relatives. Finally, she spoke with her father and mother separately. She informed them both that she knew the whereabouts of Jeremy Abbott’s body.

She stated a desire to inform police authorities but a fear of doing so. She provided her mother with a few more information about what had occurred. She claimed that as she and Jeremy were led into the woods, they were joined by more “friends.” A larger group was waiting for her when she emerged from the woods into the clearing, and she claimed that they jumped Jeremy. She eventually fled after hearing Jeremy yell repeatedly for her to do so. Jessica did provide law police with her pal Jeremy’s location on July 20, 2017. Early the next morning, two police officers went to the address provided by Jessica.

They found Jeremy Abbott quite quickly hanging from the lowest branch of a pine tree, which was about 18 to 20 feet high. We’ve been informed by others with information about this incident that these 2 policemen violated departmental policy when they went on a “secret squirrel” missing. One of them wasn’t working. Until the search was over and Jeremy’s remains had been transported to a nearby funeral home, no one else in the department was aware that they were searching, that Jeremy had been found, or anything else related to the incident. On the spot that day, Jeremy’s death was deemed a suicide; an autopsy was not performed. According to our information, the county coroner did not even visit the scene as required by Alabama law.

The city investigator originally informed Kim that Jeremy hanged himself with a size 36 men’s belt. Jeremy weighed only about 100 lbs. and didn’t wear belts. He most certainly wouldn’t put on a belt that big. The city police handed the case over to the county detectives after they located Jeremy. Kim was informed by the county investigator that Jeremy was strangled using a car’s belt. How is it even feasible for someone to hang himself using a car belt from the lowest branch of a pine tree that is 18 to 20 feet in the air? And why do the several organisations that were both present when Jeremy was found have such conflicting accounts of how he was hanged?

Kim begged the two organisations to look into her son’s death and send him for an autopsy. They silenced her. At first, the investigator misled Sarah and said that Jeremy was too deteriorated to allow for an autopsy. He then informed her that she may have an autopsy done but that she would be responsible for the cost. Kim was a dedicated single mother. She didn’t have the money to pay for an autopsy in addition to the unanticipated burial cost. She assured the detectives that she would not quit up since she was certain that her son did not commit suicide. “Ma’am, it would be better for you to let this go since no one is going to listen to you,” the investigator advised her. And nobody paid attention, at least not anyone who was competent or willing to take action.

Jessica Hamby lived in continual anxiety and misery in the months following Jeremy’s discovery. She went through a lot, too much to get into here, but it involved concealing out in a rehab, running away and hiding in another state, among other things. Jessica Hamby ultimately vanished 5.5 months later and has never been located. Despite the fact that she gave them the location of her friend’s body, law enforcement continues to hold onto their conclusion that Jeremy committed suicide.
