Olivia Farnsworth, A Mysterious Girl

Olivia Farnsworth, Who She Is?

An 11-years-old girl, Olivia Farnsworth is the strangest girl in history. She is so strange because no one in the world, now, or throughout the past, has ever had her circumstance. She is missing chromosome 6 – not too unique, but she exemplified all three apparent symptoms. That makes Olivia Farnsworth extraordinary.

Olivia As Baby

As a baby, she never sobbed. At the age of six, she split open her lip. The doctors had to operate. Insensitive to the pain, Olivia was not given an anaesthetic.

She was later slammed by a car and pulled an estimated 100 feet (30 meters). The skin was shredded from her midsection and foot. Other than gentle curiosity, Olivia was not amused. She got up and strolled away. Symptom one.

She Lost Feelings

After achieving the ideal old age of nine months, Olivia lost all feeling to sleep. No sleeps. No desire for bedtime tales. After three days and nights of permanent activity, the doctors agreed to give Olivia medication. At least her parents would be able to get some nap. Fast forward another ten years and she is still on the medication. Otherwise, Olivia might never nap. Symptom two.

No Baby Nutrition

Olivia did not like baby nutrition. She liked milkshakes. Only milkshakes. When she did not get one, Olivia would pause. She was not about to consume anything else. Her parents agreed to deny her meals, wishing that hunger would get her to consume something more nutritious. No, that didn’t help either. Olivia had no intention to eat – only to feel the cheerful taste of sugar on her palate. Symptom three.

Today, Olivia, with drug, naps about six hours per night. No longer addicted to milkshakes, she is sticking with chicken soup; fruits, vegetables and whole grains are still not to her appreciation. Sometimes violent, Olivia has no problems with punching or hitting people. Incapable to discern pain, she has no doubts about causing it on others. And her parents have to take Olivia to the doctor regularly, clearly because she is incapable to feel indications of illness.

What is the Future?

What the future holds for Olivia as she encounters adolescence, adulthood, and old age is a dilemma. Hopefully, her uniqueness will be a blessing.
